Hi friend!! (Shannan here) It looks like you've made it here to my little corner of the internet, AND I am so damn grateful you did! I've been a hopeless romantic for as long as I can remember. Somewhere between writing romance novels as a kid and picking up a camera during a long-distance relationship, documenting love became the most meaningful, purposeful thing I could imagine doing. Over the past few years, I've been welcomed into hundreds of love stories, and the fact that this is my job? I still can't quite believe it!
My approach is equal parts intentional and spontaneous, with a whole lot of heart thrown in. I believe the best images come from truly knowing your people first, so from the moment you reach out I am completely invested in you and your story. I'll guide you just enough to feel comfortable, then step back and let the magic happen. The stolen glances, the happy tears, the moments you didn't even know were happening. Those are the ones worth keeping!
My Approach
As I mentioned, ever since I was little, I simply loved writing stories. Romance novels in particular, and I was a hopeless romantic from the very start. That love of storytelling shifted when I picked up a camera during a long-distance relationship. It was when those photographs became the only way to hold onto memories between visits that something clicked. The recognition of how deeply important documenting love truly is. From there, it became the biggest gift to be able to give that feeling to other people.
What I wanted to create was a space where couples don't have to stand and smile, but instead get to fully sink into each other. A space that feels like a date. A pause. A moment where you can be completely present, connect deeply, and love each other without reservation. I truly fell in love with this work when I saw how much joy, emotion, and connection came out of every session. Watching couples walk away feeling more in love than when they arrived is, and always will be, the reason I do what I do.
Especially when shared with my puppy, Winnie. Laying on the grass-bank, eyes closed, listening to the water rush against the rocks is my heaven. I think I could spend all day just hopping in and out of the water.
Pilates is my ‘me’ time. It’s my favourite thing, the mood lighting of a pilates studio, plants everywhere, some warm tea upon arrival and then an absolutely challenging session is my favourite evening routine.
There’s something so wholesome about putting on a cute sundress and sipping Aperol spritz barefoot in a garden. My girlfriends mean the world to me, and being able to do girly things like this where we talk about EVERYTHING as the sun goes down is so cup-filling to me.
